Meta Tag Checker
Check any page's title, meta description, canonical, robots, headings, Open Graph and structured data in one scan.
What the meta tag checker looks at
Enter any URL and the checker fetches the page like a search engine would, then reviews the tags that control how it's indexed and displayed:
- Indexability: HTTP status,
meta robotsand theX-Robots-Tagheader. - Search snippet: title and meta description length.
- Duplicates: the canonical URL and hreflang alternates.
- Structure: H1 headings, the
langattribute, viewport and image alt text. - Sharing: Open Graph and Twitter card tags.
- Structured data: JSON-LD types, and whether they parse.
Results are sorted so the issues that block indexing come first. Fix those before polishing descriptions.
Frequently asked questions
Which meta tags matter most for SEO?
The title tag and meta robots matter most: the title is a ranking and click signal, and a stray noindex removes a page from Google entirely. The meta description doesn't affect rankings but strongly affects click-through rate. Canonical tags and hreflang help Google pick the right URL.
Does this tool see JavaScript-rendered tags?
No. It reads the HTML the server returns, before JavaScript runs. If your framework injects tags in the browser, they won't appear here. Google can render JavaScript, but server-rendered tags are the most reliable.
Why does the checker follow redirects?
Search engines index the final URL after redirects, so the checker reports the tags on the page that actually gets indexed and tells you if the URL redirected.
