Competitor comparison

Why does their page outrank yours? Start with what’s on it.

Enter your page and up to 3 competitor pages. Semhack audits each one and puts them side by side, with the places your page falls behind at the top.

Side by side

Every check, every page, one table.

Each page gets the same audit as any other in Semhack, so the comparison is like for like. Re-run it after you change your page, rename it, or export the whole table as CSV.
  • Overall and per-category scores for each page
  • All 40 checks in columns, with the rows marked where a competitor does better than your page
  • “Where they do better”: the short list to start from
  • On-page facts: title and description length, headings, word count, structured data, HTML size and load time, images without alt text, links

Content gaps

Words and phrases they use that you don’t.

  • From the page text

Semhack counts the words and two-word phrases in each page’s text, leaving out common filler words. A competitor’s top 30 words and 20 phrases, used at least 2 times, are compared with yours.

  • Brand names left out

Words that look like a competitor’s brand, taken from its domain name, aren’t listed as gaps.

  • Shared gaps first

Terms that several competitors use come before terms only one of them uses.

Honest limits

What it doesn’t do

  • It compares single pages, not whole sites, and reads the HTML only: content added by JavaScript isn’t seen.
  • Content gaps are word counts on the pages themselves. There’s no search volume, ranking data or backlink data for competitors.
  • Every page in a comparison is a normal audit, so each one counts toward your monthly audits. See pricing.
  • Competitor pages don’t take a website slot and stay out of your reports, monitoring and weekly list.
