How the result is decided

  • PassOne title of 30–60 characters.
  • WarningMore than one <title>, or a title shorter than 30 or longer than 60 characters.
  • FailNo title, or an empty one.

Why it matters

The title is usually the blue headline of your search result and the text in the browser tab. It is one of the clearest signals of what the page is about, and a good one earns clicks.

How to fix it

  • Write one unique title per page that names its topic, with the most important words first.
  • Keep it around 30–60 characters so Google is less likely to cut it off.
  • Remove extra <title> elements; browsers and search engines only use the first.
Example
<title>Pricing plans for small teams | Northwind</title>

After the fix, open the page’s report and choose Run again to confirm it passes.
