Headings

Lists every H1–H6 in order, counts the H1s and looks for skipped levels such as an H2 followed directly by an H4.

How the result is decided

  • PassExactly one H1 and no skipped levels.
  • WarningMore than one H1, or heading levels are skipped.
  • FailNo H1 on the page.

Why it matters

Headings are the outline of the page. One clear H1 says what the page is about; ordered H2–H6 sections help readers, screen readers and search engines follow it.

How to fix it

  • Give the page one H1 that matches its main topic.
  • Use H2 for sections and H3 inside them, without jumping levels. Style headings with CSS rather than picking a level for its size.

After the fix, open the page’s report and choose Run again to confirm it passes.
